Since the launch of Campaign 4, new Dungeon Master the talented storyteller has kept fans guessing with rich lore, a colorful mix of heroes, and a exciting storyline including celestial beings, evil spirits, and dark forces increasing in strength within Dol-Makjar.
Heads-up: Spoilers for the third episode of this adventure follow below.
The Combat-Oriented Party Unveiled
The third episode ended with a major cliffhanger and introduced the first table of characters who will split off from the central cast to embark on their own adventure, distinct from the remaining groups.
The combat-focused team consists of Teor Pridesire (played by Travis), the nimble rogue (Laura Bailey), the fierce warrior (the cast member), the cleric (the player), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie).
The Reason for Division
With a large ensemble, it was clear from the outset that having everyone at the same party would be unworkable.
Hence, the initial installments of this story serve as an Introduction, weaving together the individual narratives before dividing into three distinct groups: Fighters, Strategists, and Explorers.
Characteristics of the Soldiers Table
According to the DM, the combat-focused party is for players who are drawn to a traditionally charged combat and conflict-driven story mode where diplomatic options are scarce.
At first glance, figures such as the squeamish cleric Wicander might seem unsuited, but the developments of episode 3 make it clear why these five characters are best suited for the combat party.
Reasons to Leave
First, the party knows exactly where to go next after a intense opening clash with the antagonists.
Casimir of the deceased character—whose death kicked off the campaign’s events—manipulated the enemy for his personal gain, invading the hidden lair, attacking Thimble, and swiping all the enchanted items to dispose of.
The antagonist then settled his liabilities and ran away to a secure base in the remote area, north of the city, with Teor’s brother hot on his heels.
Character Drivers
Secondly, each member has a individual motive to depart the metropolitan area:
- The rogue, as Thjazi’s partner and best friend, seeks vengeance.
- The adventurer knows Timmony and advises that it is a nasty place.
- The strong character and The cleric, having disobeyed his house’s orders to eliminate the fighter and instead saved him, have no other options.
- But, their reputation as key figures in House Halovar could help the team enter places they usually can’t.
- Additionally, Teor vowed a unbreakable promise to Wicander for his salvation and will now accompany him everywhere.
Fugitives
Lastly, all of them are wanted by the authorities that govern the city for a variety of reasons, making staying in the city dangerous:
- Thimble and Kattigan are known criminals.
- Tyranny and Wicander betrayed the powerful family and the army of fiends they are aligned with.
- The target is wanted dead by the clan.
This results in them few options but to journey toward the northern region in pursuit of Casimir.
What’s Next?
From the latest episode’s follow-up content, we find out that the warrior group will be absent the following episode, leaving the remaining eight participants to assemble the Seekers and Schemers parties.
